Don Chipp finally retires forever. The good man has died. My condolences go out to his family.

In another post recently I made mention of Don's great statement after he formed the Democrats. They were there "TO KEEP THE BASTARDS HONEST"

To KC and The Fishing Party (Queensland) ....................... it's your turn now as you fight for the fishing rights of Queenslanders. Go for it and "MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THE BASTARDS HONEST".

He is going to be sorely missed. I respected him a great deal. I even bought his book years ago. He was the only pollie worth a pinch of sh$t. I send my best wishes to his family. An era has ended.

I agree with the above sentiments, unfortunately the Democrats lost their way a long while ago after the party was hijacked by lefty green types.....it is not a shadow of the party founded by Chipp, and his legacy has not been preserved.

Thats dead right. If it wasn't for the democrats back flip on the GST bill then we wouldn't have the RAP(Democrats oceans policy) problem out on the reef and the follow on complementary State government coastal area zoning, such as the GSS and now the battle over Morton Bay. Non of the bastards are honest, and the Democrats slogan means nothing.
