Construct a stainless steel spear pump

I am trying to find plans for the construction of a sand spear type water pump. I have seen them at camping shops but they are well outside the budget of this little black duck.

I was hoping to make one for the holidays so the kids can have a shower on Moreton.
Can anyone assist with the necessary info.

The pics are helpful. I need to know what is on the inside of the tube. I beleive they have a fine stainless steel filter to keep out the sand. I will have to pop down the camping shop and have a quick sticky beak.
