I know it's not really camping, but we recently bought a mobile home after many happy years camping. It will be our home for quite a long time. Dare I say it but we will have a 240/12v TV on board. Has anyone any advice or info about the best type of antennas? I lean toward the retractable dome, but would like some help if you have any Thanks. Sir Noelus.

Hi, probably too late for you already, I always take a tv when on extended camping trips, i have tried a few of the directional type antennas and find them to be poor overall with a lot of mucking about (as the signal shifts you have to reposition all the time), one dome we tried was a waste of time and effort dont recall the brand though.
What seemed to work best for me in the end was the smaller style household antenna (for space saving)with a high gain rating also a household booster setup(a must) we have an inverter to run the 240v needed. Whatever you do dont get any antenna that has a built-in power gain they are just rubbish and will see it gathering dust in the shed if you find out what you are missing out on. O yeah the most important bit of all is height, the top of your camper is not near high enough, consider a setup where you can raise and lower the antenna by including extra poles when needed and then pulled down for travel. Good luck
