Went there last year,100klm dirt road good if it has just been graded.Free camping but must take all your own water. Top spot for a big boat to go to the islands but any boat is a must. Good fishing at the right time

Hi Max, good to see you on here again.

Do they have a proper campground there and what are the camping facilities like. Certainly seems like a good spot to go to. I remember when i was living up at Rocky a few years ago the guys used to head up that way regular.

Cheers

Hi Derek & Neptune, No set camp ground more like day area with folding shelter tables we set up camp near them. The locals look after the grounds and have set up a hole in the ground toilet. You camp on the waters edge with a lot of king parrots that will land on your head. More info call Bevan or Maree Plum Tree Store 0749373169

No need to camp, accomodation is to cheap to ruff it ;D

was up there in June this year, got blown out the whole week :-/. Will definately be goin back next year.

Just a tip. WAIT... watch the weather... then get there as fast as ya can :o.

The ramp is a b*stard especially for glass boats. The road was good when I went but all reports indicate that it would chop up after some rain :-X.

you need a boat which will run across 16klms of open water to get to the closest islands, the good spots are 56klm out :o :o (Low Rock)

cheers

Gday fishos we have fished stanage bay a few times now, couple of times about 10-15 years ago and last year .It does have limited camping facilities but as stated renting a house/cabin is cheap and they are great houses everything you need chest frezzer, cable tv and much more.Ring or go see Bevan,Maree at the plum tree store they have all the info you will need .There is also a good tackle/bait store which has a big yard which is locked up and you can park your car and boat trailer in there for a small fee . The chance of something getting stolen is very unlikely but its a good piece of mind and only a short walk to the ramp. The dirt road in there was great when we last went up but can vary.Fishing was a little slow when we went there so we travelled out to the Percy Is which was a good 38-40 miles out .We fished between middle Is and South Is and caught some good fish .The inner Islands can be very good at times as well . Full report on trip will be posted soon along with plenty of pics Cheers Reefmaster
