Guys,

Went to my local corner stor hardware shop the other day to find it was closing down because it can't compete with the big boys :'( :'(

The two owners have been operating it for 19 years and they bought it off a bloke who had run it as a hardware shop for 33 years before that. Everything that was left was going for half price.

I'd got there a bit late and most stuff was picked over but I did manage to fin a nifty little Coleman gas burner with folding legs that seems to date from 80's I'd reckon? who knows?. Anyway picked it up for $5 and now I need to know where to get the disposable gas canisters.

I remember a post on here ages agao about some blokes getting them from BW or Kmart as cheap as chips. Anyone remember?

I thought it would be a handy little addition to my Trangia for the backpack camping cooking trips.

Seen them in Kmart in NSW a while back, so would guess in QLD Kmarts as well. Don't know prices sorry.

There are a lot of different types of disposable gas cylinders, Kmart and BigW might not carry the ones that fit your coleman, and if they do they would probably be genuine coleman brand or another well known brand, not the cheap asian named ones that your after.

If you let me know what model no the stove is I might be able to track them down for you if you cant find them.

Thanks for that - I hadn't really thought that there may be different sizes in the disposable range. Silly me thought that one size may fit all.

I'll take it to the local camping store and have it sussed out and then hunt around for those el cheapos that people were talking about.

Thanks again

PS Bungie - it's been pretty much picked over now - bugger all left in fact but it's on Ipswich Road at Annerley.

Would be interested to hear how much the cylinders cost, and how much cooking time you get out of them. Pretty handy looking setup.
Cheers,
Jeff

Bugman,

The El Cheapos are Campmaster brand - available at Big W. Saw them last week at a little less than $19 for a carton of 12. My Brother and I have been using them for well over 2 years now - great value for money. They may not fit your stove though.
