River Heads

Hey people, does anyone know if there is a caravan park or camp site at River Heads south of Hervey Bay? If so name etc.

there are no caravan parks or camping down that way
i have a block of land down that way but no loo or shower on it

Scotty, is there 'just' a boat ramp. Was looking at camping without going to Hervey Bay.

there is a ramp
at the very end there is a barge that heads to fraser
get busy down there during the day
if you want a nice quite plase at harvey try the pt vernon caravan park my sister used to own it , very clean and quite
i dont know any other places out of harvey bay to camp

Where do you actually want to go. There are plenty of areas up around that way where you can camp. Give me some idea of what you are looking at doing.

Derek, I was looking to get 'near' Hervey Bay as we haven't been there as a family, but didn't want the crowds. Need somwhere for the boat as well.

Hey Mon

Problem you have is that in holiday season it dont matter where you go there are crowds. Out of season then you sometimes have the place to yourself.

Couple of places to look at are Toogam and Burrum Heads. Toogam has one caravan park and Burrum 2 of them.

Both are a short run to Hervey Bay by car and good fishing spots in their own right.

Apart from that I have camped at a few caravan parks in Hervey Bay in holiday season and the way most of them are set up there is usually plenty of room to move.

Burrum Point National Park has a campground that is very quiet. You need a 4WD although the track in is very easy and you can tow a boat without a worry. Woodgate is 5 minutes drive and has plenty of boat ramps. Have a look at the photos on this site:

Hi mate,
My parents own a place at River heads that they hire out underneath self contained 2 bedrooms for holidays makers. Not quite camping but luxury for the family and Very easy.
Its dirt cheap, and a really nice place overlooking fraser and the bay with plenty of room for the boat. Dads a boatie too, and loves to meet holidaying fisherman.

I was in Hervey Bay 2 weeks ago Heath and the one at Urangan near the jetty is closed.

They are going to build a block of units there.
