Picked up a Waeco catalouge today and it was very confusing. Looking at about a 40 ltr portable unit to leave in Back of 4X4 or next to tent on a weekend,,,,sick of ice all the time and takes up most of room.

Any suggestions which are good units.

Hey mate

I picked up one of those cheap Repco fridges. 3-way, 35ltr for $399. Though nowhere near the class of a Engel or Chescold I'm very happy wid it.

Though the first unit I picked up Im sure was made by an 11yr old apprentice with 1 arm. Repco were happy to exchange it, and now the one I have is perfect for my needs.

My mate has a Waeco. Paid good money for it too! Very roomy But he spends most of the time fussing over it. He says its good but just not quite as good as he would have expected for the money. This light is on or this needs charging.... always something.

Bought a Waeco Cooler, not the expensive fridge/freezer. It has been fantastic. Just put a bottle of frozen water in the bottom of it, it goes for 7 hours on the spare boat battery which has one cell stuffed, and over the easter break, I left it in the tent for 3 days, and the cans and food were still cold when we got home, and the frozenwater bottle about half down.
Would like to get a 'proper' one, but this thing is excellent for the boat.
