Hi Guys,

Can anyone point me in the right direction to finding a listing of the free overnight stays on highways throughout Qld, NSW etc. Has anyone used these stays and have they felt safe stopping at them for the night?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

There ia a good one at the back of Caloundra which I have used a few times. 48 hour limit. Very basic with composting toilet and tap, but no problems when I have been there.

Busty,
Try an RACQ office or NRMA,one of those sort of clubs, they usually have all that sort of stuff, your state road authority may even do something like that (Main Roads,RTA)

I think there is also another little book that lists free campsites around Aussie as well. Have seen it in Newsagents. It has a light yellow cover.

Camps Australia Wide have a website at http://campsaustraliawide.com/index.html and it may be of interest as well.

Department of main roads has a list of all road stops on QLD main roads. I think there is about 50 officiol ones. I think some are 20 hour limits and some are 48 hour limits. There are still heeps of nooks and crannys to be found thou.
