Hi guys I am considering going to the Myall Lakes for after christmass holidays, I know it will be busy but we will be at wyong for christmass anyway so will already be down that way.
I would be camping in a tent with wife and two kids and would like to fish I have only two wheel drive, would be nice if I could find a boat to buy by then :), I saw a camping spot on a Myall Lakes map called Mungo Brush, looks like you can camp fish the lakes launch a tinny and walk to the beach for a fish or swim, sounds great doesn't it, has anyone been there or know of it or another spot to camp at.

cheers guys

My son has camped there a couple times with his mates & just loves it. They aren't into fishing so I can't help with that. Their idea of a good time is to sit waist deep in the lake all day with an esky of beer a go at it ;D ;D.

Its a beautiful part of the world, but Christmas is not the best time to visit. There tends to be a large number of skiers arrive with the hols. Mungo brush is not the only camp within the National Park, you can look for alternatives both behind the beach or on the lake.
The lake does have a healthy flathead population and its easy enough to catch them by spending the day in a chair in the water with a live poddy swimming around.

Violet hill is another, by water it is about a 3 min cruise to the same lake mungo brush sits beside, it also has a good ramp right next to it. I camped there for a few days although not fishing. It was very fresh and the only fish we saw was eels and small bream. Can camp in front of boat but the car needs to be parked 70m away. We were there in quiet times, there is not much camping room if this place gets busy. cheers fnq
