We have a queen size self inflating mattress and its great to sleep on, only problem is that its too bulky and heavy to take with us on both boat and car trips so it becomes pointless. Slept real bad on the weekend on a 12mm foam mattress so my question is what to get that is comfy, reasonable in cost and doesn't need to a trailer to get included in the packing.
We have 3x kids and they are still on airmatresses that are reasonably comfortable. But what are our choices?

we use high density foam mats (2inch) from clark rubber - cost about $50-$70 for a king size. Better night sleep than ya bed at home - the problem is a bulky roll to transport but they tie easily on top of the landy etc
We gave up on all forms of inflating matress, have 2 foam ones (king size) - one we've had for over 8yrs.

We have a queen size self inflating matress that was purchased from Camp@%$t.Folds up to less than the size of a sleeping bag. Also has an internal manual pump if needed.

Dazza that sounds interesting. We already have a self inflating queen size that rolls up to the full width and about 35cm in diameter. It still is bulky and tough to transport just as Chris's suggestion would be. Comfy though but it often gets left behind due to its size.

So the mattress you're talking about ends up the size of a normally rolled up sleeping bag, is that right Dazza?
thanks for the replies guys.
