Hi all, went to do a (above waterline) chip repair today and found the hardener in the white colored polyester resin kit I have is all crunchy - not good. Still have 90% of the white filler so I thought I'd just get some hardener,,,
So after searching the local hardware store that only have green or red colored hardeners I went to the local auto store and found a benzol peroxide hardener that had no color mentioned on the pack - call me open to new experiences or stupid but I gave it a go.
Yes its a red hardener,,,,,,
I don't want a "pink spot" on my boat,
So anyway while browsing I remembered I saw a MEK hardener that is clear. Is this ok to use instead of the benzol peroxide hardener ?

Thanks
Jamie

You need MEKP, some suppliers do shorten it to MEK, it is available in Bunnings if that helps. And it is a liquid, just beware and wear safety goggles and gloves as you can be blinded if you get it in your eyes.

I had a look online at the Bunnings hardener earlier and it was tinted green.
I’m after clear or white.
The resin I have is already white.

It might be in a green bottle but it is clear liquid.

Edit: I see where you are getting green from, it's in the Detail description, trust me it is clear, I suspect the labelling may have something to do with how they colour various products label. I was desperate on a public holiday forked out for it.
