When I retrieve the anchor using the anchor winch it always comes up into the bowspit upside down and is a real pain in the ass to get out to it and turn it over I have 2 swivels one at each end of the chain to help prevent this but it still happens
does anyone have a fix for this ?.
I thought I read on here meany years ago about someone using a bent bit of flat bar just before the anchor ?

Yes there was someone on here a while back might have been Ranmar? It was a short length of stainless round bar, somewhere between 4-6 inches with a hole in each end, with a slight curve like a banana. I think you can buy them from some of the winch suppliers Phil.

Sam Allen wholesales a device of a similar type. Called a bent swivel I think and forces the anchor to right.

Yes, I posted my fix on that. There are proprietory devices available, horribly expensive for what they are. Mine was made up from a scrap piece of 16mm s/s round bar with a slight bend in it, ground flats either end and drilled holes for the shackles. The store bought ones are usually made of s/s flat. Mine would bring the anchor up the right way 99 times from 100. You just need to mometarily pause as the device comes over the bow roller to make sure the anchor has time to turn. Hard fix to anchor ( no swivels between it and anchor) , swivel at chain end.

I ended up buying one on eBay due to a time frame issue. Cost about 80 bucks. Looks cast and has a swivel at one end. Works well.
Edit -they have gone up a bit......joys of covid I guess

I have one of these from Anchor Right. I’m sure there are many variations.
