Hi all,

Frothy vanilla milk isn't the colour you want to see coming from your trim and tilt - using the emergency release valve sees this coloured mess spurting out around the top of the ram area. I assume the seals are shot, water has got in and caused the otherwise nice red fluid to do its milk bar trick.

I think seal kits are available. Is there a lot of work in pulling out the (rusted in) pin for the ram and stripping and repairing usually?

Cheers
PS. I have got 20 years out of the unit so I cant complain. Typical Tohatsu (rest of the motor is excellent).

Getting it to bits will be the hardest part, the caps on the rams are damn tight, and most require a pin spanner to undo, and often get wrecked, you might be able to pick up a complete unit maybe.

probably get a spare cap as most likely you be using the flathead screwdriver to tap tap it off, check for pitting on the ram and also take it with a grain of salt , but i was told when i blew my seals i had put the red stuff in and although okay , will expand slightly greater than the clear fluid so not to overfill kind of thing
