Coolum Beach Wednesday 20/01

Hi All

I fished the Coolum surf for a few hours either side of low tide on Wednesday morning.

First cast I caught a 24 cm whiting then another 26cm whiting on the third cast so thought it would be a productive session. I only caught one more undersize whiting before moving further south down the beach where I caught 6 or 7 undersize dart all around the 25cm mark.

While I only took home two fish it was still enjoyable. My surf fishing skills are still at the beginner stage as I usually only get one or two sessions a year.

I was using Tweed bait prawns. I did notice quite a few pippis along the beach when we were swimming the previous day but prioritised supervising the kids rather than bait collection ;D

Glad you enjoyed yourself. Those dart can get quite a lot bigger, sometimes you just have to get out to the very back of the breakers to get to them. You still had more fun than I did, filtering and sorting paint.
