I have a Hema HN 7 for my off road stuff. About 4 years old now and some of the tracks I have followed ended up at the gates of private properties. :(

I have been seeing a lot of folks using the VMS 700HDX.

Has anyone used this and what would the difference be ? I know they are cheap compared to the Hemas ....

Cheers LP

I can't answer your question but my FIL has a Hema 7 that he tells me is the best thing in the world but it regularly sends him down tracks that end at locked gates and private property also.

He is a devoted Land Rover owner so his intelligence is questionable at best

Matt.

Ive got the vms, its not bad.

These days a phone or tablet can be just a good i reckon, i run avenza on an android ph and also an iphone and apart from screen size its just as good, you just have to download the right maps for where your going.

Ozi explorer for andriod is quite good too, in vic there are the vic maps and also the rooftop maps which are great.

No doubt theres others too but ive never needed to look further.

No way id spend $600 or so on gps mapping even if its a hema.

So, can the VMS zoom into 250mtrs and does it have a breadcrumb trail ?
