I hadn't managed to go out fishing for a couple of months (weather and busy), so when I realized I had Thursday off, I
took the opportunity to restock the freezer. I headed over to Morton on the Wednesday, and arrived just on dusk to a
beautiful sunset.

I started first thing in the morning with some live herring and after a few lost fish, boated the first of the day. As the tide picked up
(along with the sun), I started trolling. At seven fish, I thought I would check out one of the beacons, but due to the current, it was hard
work. Lost a slug or two and a couple of herring chopped in two (always missing the hook). Since that wasn't working for me, I resumed
trolling and once I reached 10, I headed home (back at the ramp by 11).

Quite a few of them were of a good size (70+cm) and caught no undersized. Just under 10kg of fillets.

how deep are you getting with the paravanes?

My bigger paravane can go down to 9-10m, but often I need to keep it on a short leash so it doesn't hit bottom in some of the shallower areas. Its a bit of a brute,
requiring up to 10kg of drag at 6 knots, but with a 4 inch spoon, it got 8 of the 9 trolled fish.
The others tend to be about 6-8m down. If they get too near the bottom, grinners are the result.
