Spent a week at moreton from the 10th till 17th of this month. Set up camp on the south eastern surf beach in an idyllic spot in the dunes overlooking a newly forming gutter.
The weather was too good to imagine with no wind glassed out ocean and very clean water. Days were spent fishing from early morning 2am in alot of cases, back to camp around 10am for a big feed of bacon eggs and tomato all cooked over the campfire. Then fishing again till whenever. Nights much the same around the fire with a glass or 3 of stones to send me off to sleep.
On the fishing front it was fairly good with some whopper tailor to 70cm on the first couple of early morning jaunts on mullet fillets.
Sharks were as thick as i have seen anywhere with their dark silhouettes easily seen just behind the shoredump in the calm clear conditions. Any fleshbait of livie piffed in front of them was eagerly scoffed. Landed them to around 6ft with a mate and solo on my surf rod spinfisher and 30lb line after some epic battles.
Dart were a dime a dozen with large schools surfing the waves. Some large ones 40+cm were there if you could pinpoint them. Freshly pulled worms were their undoing of which there were thousands. The occasional oddball fish came in too including a bonefish around 40cm and a remora.
Packed up camp on the tuesday. Pulled a few worms and caught large dart till i had to go to the western side to catch the barge. Pulled a few flattys close by untill i was forced to jump on.
Top little break and I WANNA GO BACK.113216113220113219113218113217113211113212113 213113215113214113221
