Was planning to get a quick morning session targetting Estuary Cod and Longtail for dinner.
At the ramp by 5.30am, fairly quite for public holiday,
Easy ride to spot1,
First drift and no bait around, managed to get a single bait after a long 30mins drift,
Second drift and up comes this nice cod,
Third drift and missed another similar cod.
Still cant get bait
Moved to spot2 after few more drifts
Spot2 is full of bait, sounder is showing nothing but bait however they were not interested at all,
In fact the whole day was struggle to catch bait, caught over hundred whiptails and surgent baker, only managed to cath 4 livies in total.
Surely something going to happen with all this bait on the sounder,
Decided to do a very long and quite drift.
Halfway through the drift I saw a big splash to right of my boat, though it was a tuna, and saw the dreaded dolphin later on,
Straight after my rod on surface takes off and I am thinking the unluckiest bloke on the bay hooked on to a dolphin,
but wait a minute, it surely fights like a tuna.
This beautiful Longtail is landed after a bit of a battle.
During the battle dolphin was tailing the tuna most of the time
Fish for dinner for the next week, happy to return to base early.
Plan worked well, good day on the water, happy to be out again.
