So as every one else did Saturday headed into the bay with the old man and young fella
left from Wynnum at gentlemans hour 5.30 and searched around harries for bait could not find anything worth stopping for so I looked towards the horizon and could see some birds working.

We headed of for a look while I was throwing slugs dad was the bait guru with about 20-30 pillies coming on board but no schoolies.
we mad the call to head north stopped at the 4 beacons for a few casts and drifts the old man got a 60cm schoolies on a floated pilly but once again nothing on the slugs. Kept heading north and seen heaps of bird big tuna were leaping everywhere we chased them for a good half hour before the disappeared so shattered I could not hook up I tried everything...

Now my young son woke up so we went to curtain reef and wasted 3 hours of our life's there
for only a couple of small squire for the young fella ....
heading home stopped for a swin which my son loved and we made the decision we where done for the day and started home but loving fishing like I do we stopped at the first beacon to see some bait jumping out goes a slug and I looked over dad still had his deformed dry old pilly on
his rod 20lb mono on a 4-7kg silstar rod.

I threw it in just in case did 1 or 2 cast then looked over and his rod got a nudge I told him he was on then it loaded up and what a first run easy 100m of line
after a solid 15min dad handed it to me he was stuffed and finally after about 30 circles of the boat a cracking longtail was boated 34lb what a fish after this we called it and headed home..

normally we we get a bit of a hiding returning in the 1m chop heading back but the new trim tabs worked amazing and recommend to anybody that has trouble getting the nose of the boat down these are for you invest in tabs........

cheers thanks for listening to my rant Scott

Good stuff !! - that's an awesome catch :)
What sort of tackle were you using with the hook/leader?
Thanks for the cool pictures and writeup!

Medium rare steaks dusted with with salt and cracked pepper ;)

Longtail goes pretty good in Cerviche also, if you've never tried it look up a recipe and give it a crack while it's still fresh.

Mate it was 20lb mono on a shimano 8000 bait runner with a 4-7kg silstar rod single 5/0 hook with a half ounce sinker tied directly to the main line
