Got back Friday 11 .9.15 afternoon from Fraser all Tailored out.
Three of us camped up for a week at a beautiful spot about a kilometre up the beach from Ocean Lake.
First up we were driving back towards Waddy about 2 km to fish, but then quickly found we could simply just walk down from our camp to a small hole and have as much fun as we wanted. We got a lot of the fish on 85g Raiders , using surf rods with old 489 Mitchell spinning reels. After our first session ,we released most fish just keeping enough for our immediate needs, and brought back 2 dozen troll baits for my freezer. Did a bit of sight seeing during the day to various locations, and buried a time capsule on the Western Beach - loaded it up with a quality bottle of Red , together with a heap of photos- some going back some 30 odd years of visiting the island, some old faithful tailor rigs and a few well used Raiders, an old Fraser T shirt, mosquito coils etc , etc. Plan is to dig it up every year and drink the wine and replentish it with a new bottle.Good enough reason to keep going back !!
We were treated with some magnificent sun rises which were followed up buy the daily humpback show.
Got 1 week now to get over the trip before I head up to Hinchinbrook for two weeks - someone has to do it!
