Hey all, mananged to get out the Rous and chase some winter whiting,
Used squid and worms, both caught fish, was fishing for about 2 1/2 hours with all caught in a 5 minute window. Couldn't find them again so headed home in glassed out conditions.
Only ended up with 10, but got half a kilo of fillets off them nothing under 28cms.
A hard day's fishing, but mint conditions and a good feed.
If I get a chance I'll try and put the GPS marks for where I got them.
Cheers Bermo

Hey Bermo, thats a nice feed, shame about the numbers. 28cm is big winterie. Prob wont get any bigger than that.
What was it like out there early? Bit lumpy?

Hey Seahorse, I didn't get on the water until 9am so it had dropped off and was a nice trip over.
My apologies on the size too, nothing under 25cm. Had a brain dart when writing. The biggest was 28cm.
Cheers

I went to fishermans gutter yesterday, didn't get out there till after midday
I caught 40 whiting, couple went 30cm, using squid soaked in tuna oil for bait
they were in patches, caught in different areas of fishermans gutter, glassed out conditions all afternoon
spoke to another bloke out there, he had 20, all caught on worms

That's a good feed Robin.
How long does it take to get out there?
Fish gutter is over close to moreton isn't it?
Squid and tuna oil is different. Was it left over from dinner? Lol
when I went out yest squid was bit hard but once I swapped over to prawn, got more bites.
I salt mine that makes them a lot tougher. Like rubber.
30cm is a whopper

Nice work Robsue, is fisherman's gutter near the Rous?
I've heard about it but am not sure where it is.

Greg, not left over from dinner, I brought a kg of skirts from aldi, decided to put some pieces in bottle with the tuna oil, also has bit of aniseed in it, seemed to work
Greg and Bermo, fishermans gutter is to the north of rouse, if you look north from the entrance to rouse you might see the yellow go slow beacon, I enter there, and it goes down east to close to the dog leg leading to the bar, just try different spots, not necessarily where other boats are either
ps Greg, some of those whiting we were getting 2 year ago before the entrance to the rouse were 32cm

Cheers Robsue, I saw some boats over that way, and was tempted to investigate but decided to leave them alone. Good to know for the future.
What depth did you get them in. Mine were between 5-5.4m.
What depth did you get them I. At the CAB Seahorse?
