Headed out from Manly this morning to hit the Bay to see if there might be a Snapper around. Got out there about 0445, which meant the alarm kicked me out of the fart-sack in Gatton about 0015 and away by 0100. Even Seabreeze wasn't on the money with wind, with a good 10(+) SSE in the middle of the Bay. No keeper, just a heap of undersize Squire. Got 1 small Spottie, but he went back, and got smashed by a freight train, probably a big cod I'm thinking. Took off and hit the ramp at low tide. That public ramp is atrocious; I thought it got sprayed. There's more slime on it than a politician and it's twice as slippery. Anyway, back to Gatton, clean up then round to the mate's place to watch the Origin. To say I'm tired is the understatement of the century. I'm out of match practice and I won't be doing any more of these early starts. The regularity of a reward is just not consistant enough for me to do this any more. A more gentlemanly hour shall suffice from this point on. Anyway, good run for the boat and always good to be on the water.

Cheers,
NICK.

No surprises you are tired it makes for a big day having to come from Gatton, shame you didn't get a few. The bay can still produce a few decent reefies in the middle of the day so not all is lost. The consolation Maroons win would have made the beers go down a bit easier at least :)

I find if you plan to fish the high or low tide period it doesn't matter what time of day it is, your in with a shot. I travel from Ipswich, not as far as Gatton but still a 1hr drive and I like to plan overnight trips. You can fish the sun down and sun up period and not get sun burnt. Food for thought.
