We left Clontarf at 6am, glassy conditions, quick run over to the old Compass Adj Bouy area.
its nice in the tinnie, sitting at 50kph, just skipping along.
Well headed to our first mark, and onto a few straight away.
It was then just a bit of try here there and everywhere, but they still were there in patches.
Tried couple more marks and same thing, but the numbers kept coming.
Our tally was growing with quite a few double hook ups.
Size was good, nothing under 23cm and average was 24/25 cm which for winter whiting is pretty good size.
We then saw this big open boat heading straight towards us and not slowing down. I said to my mate look at this idiot and it was the water police.
Couple nice blokes just wanted to see life jackets and flares.
i had never seen this boat before. It was a 6 metre big black rubber duckie looking thing with twin 300hp outboards.
They stayed around for about 10 mins, chatting and off they took at 100 mph.
This thing just jumped out and flew.
Well we kept fish and still catching them.
right on high tide the bite just stopped. No drift at all.
I put the min kota on at slow pace and we got another quickfire 20.
We ended up with 96.
All caught on squid and prawn.
All cleaned, fillited , and in the fridge. Whiting tomorrow night for dinner.
Maybe they are back. Yahoo.
cheers
