View Full Version : Help!! - locked out of the Kluger

Took the battery out of the Kluger to use for camping, locked the door manually with the key, now back from camping and cannot open the door manually (With the key). Have tried all three original keys that came with the car, squirt of silicon spray to see if sticky but there is no movement at all, seems to be a electro / mechanical lock only and pehaps there was enough residual juice in the system to lock the door but now I can't open it for the life of me.

Have tried googling and Toyota forums but cannot find anything relating specifically to this problem. Have tried holding the handle up before turning & that doesn't work.

Have tried to find a way to open the bonnet from the ouitside too, any thoughts on this? Looks well protected for theft purposes I guess. Also tried to find the starter motor under the car to connnect battery up but cannot locate it, covers all over the place underneath.

Thought I was a member of RACQ but it appears to have expired, before I rejoin any ideas / help appreciated. :-?

You can go online and ask the question and even though Curtis wants $51 if your satisfied with his answer it might be worth it.

I requested help with your question but he wants a credit card for the $51 if your happy so you need to do it

Call autoglasswarehouse in coopers plains, find out which glass is the cheapest to replace, then get a big rock....

Send someone to pick me up and take me there. I have Ultimate cover with RACQ and they will attend to any car I claim to be driving.

Mate depends on how mechanically confident you feel but if you climb under your car hook up jumper cables to the body and starter motor. To do this firstly place the positive onto the nut where the battery feed goes to the starter, then place the earth onto the chassis, this will provide you just enough juice to unlock your car

Not a good thing. Unless it is soemthing weird, it means anyone who has a battery collapse on them will be locked out of their car! Pretty poor engineering.

Crunchy, does the remote work, or is like the old commodore, once locked with a key then must be opened with a key.
Have you tried the Australia4WD forum, you may need to join it first.

If all else fails trade it in on a new one!

Just take a photo of yours in to the showroom and get them to come pick it up from your place.

This option is on the table if the locksmith cannot solve the problem!!!

In the meantime keep smiling..........

Mate my suggestion is how the RACV will unlock your car.

reasonably, that was my first thought but looking under the car is just a mass of covers and can't see anything, tried googling where the starter motor might be from under the car and couldn't find any diagram, also is that positive battery lead hanging in mid air or laying on the chassis? Can't remeber....

Nope, no battery in the car to operate the locks

Mate my suggestion is how the RACV will unlock your car.

Got one more thing to try (lube the lock some more as SURELY it is a mechanical lock for this very situation) if that don't work then RACQ membership here we come.

im not too bummed out just yet, just taking it in my stride.

Some vehicles you can unlatch the bonnet through the grille if you're lucky this might work

Mate I'm gunna win this *&^% battle I tell ya, dont get care if the car gets written off'at this point as long as I get into the damn thing. Have manged to hook the positive lead but having a hell of a job getting my hands up to connect the jumper leads, needed a little break and quiet time, think the neighbours have heard some new words.
