Great report wayno.

I hit the Coomera north arm sat night, nothing but catfish. The midgies and mossies were the worst I have ever seen in the last 10 years, and Im fairly used to em. Thank god for Bushmans.

The time before last i ventured out i ended up on the bait grounds SE off the seaway in the early AM... picked up a few yakka's and and had all intentions of drifting the seaway on in coming tide. When i got back to the seaway i remembered that it was a public holiday and everyman and his boat were out.... so i thought , No, i dont need this crap, im going home....

Which brings me to the other night.
Headed out for a quick fish (6hr) as i had to work that next afternoon.
Same story.... headed for the southport bridge cast netted my quota of herring and headed for the seaway. Having the yakka's left over from last time i depolyed one of them on one rod and a live herring on the other...The baits were only in the water for 30 min and the rod with the yak started to loose line at a pretty good rate. I thought ill get the other line in while what ever it was continued to play with the yak.

After getting that one in a pick up the other rod, waited for another run and clicked the Penn 8500LL into gear. I just got a good feel of the weight and he spat the hook. Rebaited with another yak and out it went into the same spot. 15min later here we go again. same deal wound in the other line and waited for another run.... just getting a glimpse of the line in the lights of labrador i could see it had gone slack so i started to wind in and it was just all slack till i caught up with what ever it was which was, by this time directly below the boat..yep solid hook up and as i started to pump and wind a great hunk of weed was wraped around the line which wouldnt let me retreive any further... as im trying to whip the weed off the tip of the rod Mr Fishy was still continuing to head out to sea straight under the boat.

Anyway before i could get the weed untangled ol mate put on a big run and rubbed me off on the side of the boat.... By this time the tide had turned (run out) and id had enough so headed home.

No alcohol was consumed or animals harmed in the making of this report...(apart for a few Bait fish)

Andrew,
the mozzies were thick in the seaway also..When ever the breeze droped off and i didnt have a ciggy going there was just a constance buzzing noise around my head..i sprayed some repelant on my feet and legs but dont like having it on my face or hands...

I don't like the stinking stuff either. Usually have a rag around the can and the top nozzle before I will spray it. I put the hat on the seat and give it a good spray before putting it on and spray around my collar. This seems to deter them enough.
