I have just removed an old lawrance external antenna from my old global map as I'm in the process of installing a new Garmin 1020.
Now I need to either fill the hole with something or to install something else over the old hole, but I'm stumped as to what to do!!
Can anyone give me some suggestions?
Pictures are attached hopefully.....
Cheers. Joel.

Can't just leave the old antenna there until something better comes along?

White acrylic/polycarb cut to size, clean both surfaces with prepsol or similar and stick down with sika. If you ever refitted another external antenna you could fit straight on top once you drilled the required holes.

How about a circular shaped ausfish sticker?

I had exactly the same thing on a previous boat. I put a large stainless mudguard washer top and bottom of the main hole, silicon sealed and bolted up, then two small bolts with washers silicon sealed over the small holes. looks like a piece of mounted hardware from the top, you would/t notice unless you went looking underneath to see that there is nothing attached.
Also easily removed and cleaned up latter if you do want to mount something else. Quick and simple with a few bits of hardware from whitworths.

Fill with needit aqua putty (bunnings) sand and put a sticker over it $10.00 fix. KP

Seeing as it is white, just make a plug to fill the hole, slightly lower than the surface (or tape the underside) and get some white gel coat putty, the white might be not exactly the same, but it's easy to use and works a treat on holes, and you can then put some sort of sticker over it if you feel like it!

How well does gel coat putty bond with aluminium? And is it paintable?
Otherwise that Aqua putty seems ok after reading the spec sheet.
I think I would prefer to fill and paint for a neat finish.

Gees, I'm a dunce, didn't even see it was an alloy boat, might have to just buy some sort of antenna or "something" to cover the hole, the proper way of course is to weld, grind and reprint.
