Left home fairly late at 7.30am with Peter (rainbowrunner) thinking we might purchase some sand crabs on the way from Morgans to chase tuskies, surprised to see they open at 10am, was thinking they would start early......
Left Scarborough ramp just past 8am
Decided to cross the bay and test the boat as its in the water first time.
Marker hopped a bit. All markers we looked at were full of bait, small slimies on top feeding and yakas/herring down the bottom.
Expected some tuna/mackerel action but no predator on the sounder or surface.
Incredible to see all that bait sitting on the surface loosely, enjoying themselves.
3-4 slow drifts at Curtins for nothing was next and decided anchor up.
We caught a legal spangled emperor and a rat king, couple of large long toms but very quite day over all.
Tide was very slow all day also.
Decided to head back about 2.30pm, copped the rain.
Quite day but always fun to be out with great company.
Very impressed with how boat handles now and new engine.
The difference 200 ponies make is unbelievable.
We were cruising about 2800 rpm at 42 km/h
Highest I went up was 3200rpm for 53km/h
Cant imagine wot speed once I find a calm bit of water.
My fuel bill literally halved also. All that work for 40-45 litres.
Would have easily burnt 80+ lts with the 130hp
