Family fun day

I talked the kids into coming for a fish this morning as the conditions were so good. The GF was going to head up as well after work. The girls and I hit the water at around 8am to a pretty low tide. It was on the run in and most of the weed beds and yabby banks were exposed. I headed down to one of my fav spots after taking the girls for a quick blurt. Holly is my oldest girl at 10yrs of age. She can cast and retrieve SP's by herself. Millie is 7 and I cast for her but she can put a pretty good action on a placcy. It wasn’t long till Holly was onto a small one around 38 cms. She released that one and we continued on our merry way. Not long after Millie started on with the old DAD!!! DAD!!! I GOT A FISH!!! It was pulling a bit of line off the reel and she was having to lean on it a bit. She was a little trooper and pulled in a nice high 40's flatty.

Well that opened the flood gates for Millie, she was hooked. In goes another cast and she was on again. A smaller one that we let go. Then Holly lands one. Then Millie puts another keeper in the live well. A hot little bite with about 7 or 8 fish landed. Millie had 5 at this stage.

We decided to go for another blurt as the midgies moved in but did no good so the girls had a feed as I had a fish. Caught a couple more of which one more went into the live well for dinner. It was not long till the GF called and said she was at the ramp so we motored over and picked them up. We scooted across to a nice drop off lined by weed banks and we cast a few SP's about but the girls didn’t hook up and decided to have a spell so I grabbed a rod, fired off a cast and as it neared the boat it got monstered by a fat 68cm flatty. A few pics and in she goes.

Things slowed a bit but the GF and her daughter both landed a fish each.

We decided to scoot down to white patch for a run. We pulled up on the little beach there and saw a nice fat goanna. I got some nice photos

You looked pretty stoked when you came in at the ramp, often a day out with the kids can be the most enjoyable, I noticed you didn't post the pic you sent me, I must admit it is getting harder to pick which is the flattie and which is you. Thanks for those SP's I will put them to good use tomorrow.

I personally think flathead are a beautiful fish so I will take that as a compliment ;-D
