Went for an early morning Tailor fish early yesterdaymorning in a nice bit of water at Mermaid.
Fished the runup tide from 4.30 with cutbait with no success bar some breamshredding the bait.

I changed bait & threw a pilly on just as it was starting to lighten up & second cast i had a tailor pick it up & run back into the beach.
I thought i had it foul hooked for a while as it was going pretty hard but soon changed my mind when it left the water in the shore break. It gave me some stick on 6kg line but it all held together.

Just on 740mm & 3.3 kg. Dropped one other fish & that was it.
An improvement on what has been a bad season for me.

Might only have been the one fish but what a cracker it is. Makes those early mornings worth it ;-)

Ealry winter mornings, Sunrise over a glassed out sea with a cold Westerly blowing. And a large greenback in the creel - doesn;t get much better than that! Great fish.
