Gladstone Region Barra?

I've only been living in Gladstone a few months now and I'm pretty keen to get into some saltwater Barra.
Are there any popular areas where the locals go to target them?
I've been told the hot water outlet up the Calliope River is a pretty good spot, but I haven't had any luck there as yet.
