Arvo,
Went for a fish today down the pine river got almost 30 odd summer whiting in a few hours up too about 30cm on worm, dropped 2 crab pots for no keeper crabs!
had a bloke come from his moored boat in his tender, over too one of my pots (which aren't the usual white floats) have a look around, and then he reaches for my floats and begins too pull the pot up! He must not have seen us as we were only 60m from the pot???? This is when I started yelling at him asking what he was doing to which he says he "thought" it was his pot too which I said of course you did... This have him the shits he abused me with f's and c's drops my rope and putts away and checked 3 or 4 other pots!
being broad daylight I snap a photo of him and ring the fish watch number to report it! They pretty much didn't care, which now has pissed me off more.... U finally catch someone checking ur pots and they still don't care...!
this blokes lives on a white enclosed boat moored at dohles rocks with blue curtains all around, he's an older bloke prob around 50 and overweight in a tender that's pretty old with most the blue paint scratched off!
look out for him,
Andrew

Good lot of Whiting Andrew , they have been very scarce up there this season compared to last
Is his boat near the ramp or opposite side of the river?

I recon a slingshot and a sinker could reach 60m. Would still end up in a few f's and c's though haha

Bloody great state of affairs you get abused because you stopped him lifting your pot.
He will do it to the wrong person one day and get his just deserts.

That's a nice feed of whiting from the river.
Shame about old mate. I think I know the boat you're talking about. No doubt he he usually collects his tax from everyone else on a regular basis. IMO his reaction proves that he knew what he was doing. Any regular person would be apologising

Just gives me the shits that when u actually catch someone they don't want too know anyway... Fisheries bloke said that he'd admit that he thought it was his and they couldn't prove the misunderstanding! He'd actually have too steal my pot...
Unforetunatley I don't carry slingshots or eggs while fishing, I was more in shock it was happening in front of me and that he had a go at me back...!
King cray - his boat is on dohles side of channel it was 3rd back from the hornibrook bridge! White boat blue curtains around the back...
cheers

fisheries were at deep water bend a month ago when I pointed out some guys dropping unmarked pots along the bank. they could even see them from the ramp.
unfortunately they seemed more interested in pinging the boaties over equipment.

You can see his boat clearly driving north on the M1 over the bridge on the left hand side.
My old man made a good point once, if someone drops an unmarked pot then technically its illegal and MAY be deemed littering so picking up someones trash shouldn't get you in trouble. Not that him nor I have ever done this but saying it to a few people has got them to rethink sinking their pots. Bit annoying when those of us that follow the rules end up shafted from thieves.

I was talking to a guy at tweed last month, he got so sick of thieves that he stuck razor blades on the ropes. I asked him what about fisheries if they lift ur pot to check it but he didn't seemed worried

Razor Blades on the rope........I like it!!! That would be sooooo funny to watch the thieves cut themselves up that I would even stand back just to let them try to steal my pots to watch the show.

I remember someone posting about doing that before but it can open you up to causing bodily ect. which i thins is BS considering they're in the wrong. I would avoid doing this because what happens if in the off chance fisheries pull it up to see if the pot is marked in accordance? Then youre in a heap of trouble
I think something like this would be a bit safer

Wouldn't crab thieves be classed as vermin?

If you class burglars (vermin) falling over a vacuum cleaner you may have set as a mantrap, or maybe the wife just didn't put it away in your dwelling house at night, then they can sue you for their injuries whilst tripping over it in the dark, when they've forced their way in?
Maybe a mantrap's a mantrap and a vacuum cleaner is not deemed as one!
Would a 60kg Rotti Cross in the house be classed as a mantrap I wonder? Would like to see what happened to them when they "tripped" over Him, not to mention the cattle dog backing Him up, She's more feral than he is lol!
Modern society sure has some "Americanised" rules nowadays.

The name of that particular crime is setting a man trap.

The Razor blades? or the 2 Dogs who LIVE in the House? That then classes my House as a mantrap lol!

Nope , wrong boat. Dohles boat ramp. you can`t see it from the highway !
Andrew I would have run the old C#nt straight over. But.... I wouldn`t crab the pine. too many grubs down there. if your pots don`t get stolen/checked/ropes and floats cut off, you get back and your car has been molestered.
anyways when are you coming out for a fish ? might hit the River tomorrow night.
