Hi,
I am looking at transducer mounting options for for a Glacier Bay cat. I have seen a few reports of transducers being silicon mounted (or with epoxy) direct to the glass, with no wet box. They are bedding them in a pool of the adhesive without air bubbles.

Has anyone done this with success or have any experience with this type of install?

I have even heard of transom mount transducers being retrofitted into this type of arrangement.

I am looking at options for an Airmar M260 for mounting, but wet box access is hard, so considering other things.

Thanks.

Cheers.

My haines came with an airmar p58 siliconed into the hull, just sicaflex or silicon onto the floor of the bilge...it works fine. I didn't fit it, but it seems to work with a raymarine A50D

The process as I understand it is to completely remove the end of the tube so the hole it comes out of is the same diameter as the tube, then place it on the bottom of the hull and pump it as you lift the tube slightly.Once your round 3/4'' to 1'' up keep it there and let it 'spill' out, slide it off at the end and make 100% sure there are no air bubbles as you put the transducer in place.
