My 6 yo son was hassling me to go for a fish to try out his new christmas present - baitcaster and rod combo. I was still doing family things here and there so quickly went to Jindalee for a fish off the bank. My son (on the right) took one of his mates who had never caught a fish. My son managed a couple of catfish on his new rod/reel and his mate landed several catfish. They were stoked for the hours fishing to come back with something. Just used some old pillies I had in the bottom of the freezer.

I was stoked as I had some fresh crab pot bait. Put the pots out the next arvo and managed 4 keepers that evening. Caught 6 legals but threw 2 back as they were floaters.

My son's first cast was pretty good. But his second cast he forgot to put his thumb on the spool and managed a birds nest that I ended up having to cut out. But after that one shocker, he became quite good at throwing his own line out.

Dazza, I launch the boat at Jindalle and head downstream a bit.

I'm staying at the inlaws in a few weeks at Westlake so i might throw a few pots in and see what happens.
Maybe i should take the boat and go for a run up the river.
