I have two garmin 750s units, one of which I am about to fit. I intend to use one as a dedicated sounder showing both frequencies in split screen, and the other as a chart plotter, but would like to be able to show the temp log and depth log on the chart plotter.

i know I can only use a single transducer (to the unit dedicated as the sounder), and my question is about how I get that unit to pass water temp and depth via either nmea2000 or nmea0183 to the other unit?

has anyone done something similar?

according to the manual, the unit does not have a pgn for water temp and depth nmea2000 sentences, but does have them for nmea0183. Is there an issue with connecting the NMEA 0183 interfaces and also having NMEA 2000 connectivity?

thanks in advance

Why cant you use 2 trannies?

Both transducers are identical frequencies conflict, would show as noise from other comments I have read here. Also less enthusiastic about drilling more holes in transom.

I think it would be better to transfer data between units, I will try NMEA 2000 and if not will try 0183 crossover.

friday looks like fitting day, but NMEA cables will take another week to arrive.

Fitted the second unit, connected brown and blue to each other (NMEA 0183) powered up both units, the designated chart plotter (no transducer) is happily receiving depth and temp from the sounder unit (transducer attached). Objective achieved, I can run the chart and temp log on one unit and the dual frequency sonar on the other. NMEA 2000 cable still to come will allow additional data exchange between the two units.

now to save the pennies for a tm270w transducer and a radar dome.

all up a successful operation.

For information, on the. Receiving unit I turned off all NMEA 0183 output sentences, as I understand that only one station can be a "listener" and can receive from multiple "talkers", on the unit designated as the sounder, I turned off al outbound sentences except those in the sonar section (depth and temp).

NMEA bridging is switched on with both units.

You downlod the installation instructions for these units and that document contains the NMEA sentence definitions.

i will get to treading the software update release notes to see what other options have been enabled.

cheers
