Crab Pot New design.

Some where on this or another forum I saw a photo of a new design pot.

It was round and had two rings, the bottom was "steel" and the top was smaller in diameter and appeared to be a floater.

Can any one steer me in the right direction to find it again.

I have done a search to no avail.

Can't say Rosco.

I just caught a glimpse of it somewhere but can't remember where.

Just looked good at the time.

Some time ago we used two rings, one a solid steel bottom ring and a floater 4 feet above. The mesh was about 100 mm. and very fine.
Four ties held the floater down so the mesh was loose and easily ensnared the crabs.

There was no bottom or top to the trap and the crabs just swam into the mesh.

Worked very well, both muddies and sandies.

We never left them set overnight and pulled them continuously.

I don't think they would be legal today.

Thanks lads, seems like a sensible design from the point of view of stacking and transporting. The catching is going to be the essence of success.

I am going to get a couple and try them out.

Lost a brand new pot last Wednesday out from Bribie, think the rope came off the float. Got a few very nice sandies though and two good cod. 700 and 800.

until recently I had two of these. bought them about 15 years ago.

had to give one up two weeks ago when I got towed back to the ramp and couldn't collect my pots.

they work well and are much easier to transport. I can't recall where I bought them (I'll ask the missus) but I have a feeling they were made somewhere near Caboolture.

They are HAYES pots very good pots he is at Coombabah? Very popular with low scum crab pot thieves I have lost 6 to them this year (but no more pots will I loose)
