So I've talked my wife into letting me get a new rod reel line combo for Xmas. My budget for my spinning reel is 50-100$ range. I've already got my eyes set on the rod (Shimano Terez 7 foot 2 inch 15 - 30lb Model). I'm going to be setting up a 20lb-30lb braid on the reel.

Going up to airlee beach early jan and will be targeting some barra. Also the rod will be nice for my basic jack fishing back home here around Brisbane and the GC.

My question is pretty basic, I am looking for a reel that suits my budget and the weight of the line I'll be using any suggestions would be great. Not real picky on brands I'm open to a variety. Remember my rod is only 7 foot so I don't want an over weight monster reel.

I don't know if it matters but I'll be using poppers and suspending lures.

thanks in advance :)

Mate I have 2 off those rods to make it a balanced outfit you will ned a 4000 size reel in that price range if you are spending $200 on a rod.but not the reel?

anyway try and stretch the budget 2 $140 and get a smytere from shimano or the diawa aird nice real for the dollars around $100-120 hope that helps

Ive got both the 4000 and the 3000 symetres.. They are great reels, the 4000 i use for snapper on plastics and also throwing slugs at tuna.. have even nailed a few small yellowfin on it. U can get them for about 120 on special sometimes
