So I want to know what everyone uses before they head out because I know its only a prediction, but I have been out there when BOM said it was going to be dead flat and im getting smashed by waves. I personally check sea breeze, BOM together and frequently check BOM's forecast updates and take and average. but lately it seems like I just cant have a win with all this win...

Mate, I use the Bom wind map and willy weather.
Provided they both say similar things they are usually dead on the money... you'll find that you'll miss out on some valuable days fishing if you just rely on the Bom forecast as they almost always over predict. The wind map on Bom is a good 'base'
I dont use sea breeze at all as they cover too much area for their 'central region' thats why i find willy weather better as they break it down into various locations close by.
Jump on weather zone and look at the 10 day forecast too for a long range idea, they are generally pretty close but it is only a synoptic chart.. And get to know your weather patterns.. we go different places depending on wind direction etc..
Like lately with all the northerlies, alot of people don't realise that the further east you go the flatter it gets, ya gotta get away from the coast, last week I had mates saying it was ordinary up near flat and around the bay but we were enjoying glass out conditions out wide...usually about the 50-60km mark you start to notice the change..
Hope this helps

And do some real time checking the night before.
Wave buoy
http://www.ehp.qld.gov.au/coastal/monitoring/waves/site_param.php?siteid=96¶mid=1
Square rocks weather station
http://data.aims.gov.au/aimsrtds/station.xhtml?station=5
Nothing beats knowing what is really going on. Compare the real time with "todays" forecast and see how well they matched before believing "tomorrows" forecast.

Check out bouy weather. You have to pay but it's a good site.

Just remember that most of the sites use BOM or NOAA data and just put it into prettier easy to read graphs. Check their disclaimers.

Mate if you are going to use BOM, make sure you go to the latest observations and check what the wind is doing around Rundel island it will give you a good indication what the wind is doing in the cap channel.Check this as you walk out the door. Also use your own instinct,
