ended up anchoring up to get them and it was 26 feet deep

picked up 6 sandcrabs {4 pots} on way home, hopefully few more after overnight soak

Nice to chat to Robin.
We ended up getting our bag, but it wasnt easy.
Lucky we had our prawns as they didnt want the squid.

Quality is down but u still get that occassional snodger.

But i think iam over winter whiting. Hate the cleaning and filleting.

Great trip home. Took 25 mins exactly from sandhills to clontarf ramp.

Cheers
Greg

Hi Rob.

It was good to meet you on the water today. We ended up with 50 whiting and 8 crabs and had a great time with my son and his mate.

I didn't intend to anchor as close to you as i did but glad to make meet you. I don't usually fish in the bay but it was the sons call and we had a great time. hope to see you on the water again.

Russ, yes its good to meet different ausfisho's out on the water, wasn't a problem anchoring where you did, as you saw I tied a mate up behind me, though they didn't do too good, even with me giving them some prawns for bait
went out this morning to check my 4 pots, 4 crabs in one, none in others with a pro boat nearby when I arrived ??????
read the paper and then pulled pots and went home

Come on ray. It's about time you bagged out on whiting at the sand hills.

Bring on Saturday for me.

Hey ray
Working on it mate.
Think might give whiting a miss for few weeks. Sick of filleting them

My Grandfather moved to Deception Bay in the 1950's and fished mainly for whiting and sandcrabs for the next 40 years. From various timber boats to 14 foot, before investing in a new type of boat, an aluminium twelve footer.
With an outboard motor!

Running the sack behind the boat scaled the fish.
Whilst cleaning his potato sack full of whiting, neighbours and other locals would walk into the yard for a chat. Some of the real old people nearby would score a feed of fillets.
My point is, don't forget the tradition of it, Greg.
Open a beer or something, filleting the little buggers is all part of the fun.

Hey Paul.
I hear what u are saying but the good old days dont hang around forever. Not that iam not giving up whiting fishing forever, just going to give u blokes a few more to catch. Lol

Cheers
Greg
