Just bought one of these from BCF online, rrp over $500, on sale for $299.

First run yesterday, and it seems pretty good. Took me a while to get a useful picture, by which time I was over at the sw corner of Peel. The screen was just a mess of bits of colour, and I was feeling a bit disappointed, thinking I had bought a crap device. However, when I turned on Fish ID, it showed all of these as fish. I assume I was over a massive shoal of baitfish.

Anyway, it seems pretty good. Amazing for 300 bucks. Lacks some features that are standard on more expensive units, but has good resolution and holds the bottom well. Crappy manual, they want you to buy the DVD's, I guess.

Sure beats my old mono unit.

Mate, mine came from Bundaberg. They didn't have this model in anywhere closer to Brisbane than that,

I tried getting one but was told good luck by bcf. Lawrence aren't supplying them any more. I just bought the gps version in the end.

They aren't a bad little sounder, I run one myself in conjunction with a larger Humminbird. When you become more familiar with the unit, try going back to using raw sonar instead of the Fish-ID, if it's set up right you'll get a lot more info out of it. You got a good price too.

Cheers

Thanks, Mike. Good to hear that it works well for you. I'm a complete novice, but YouTube plus this forum helps.
