Hey guys managed to get away for the weekend and im in caloundra, up before first light and at the waters edge, stuffed about chucking a hard body for 20 or so minutes when I moticed alot of surface action! Walked 100 or so metres and started chucking a popper around I had on another rod.
Small Queenies darting out of the water and boofing baitfish but I couldnt get out far enough from the canals edge, about half an hour later I had something smash the lure and miss, then again, and again! Thought id missed it as it was close to shore and in shalow water but sure enough the reel screemed off from the 4th hit. Was very thrilling seeing the action and I was pumped, couple good runs and him holding himself in the current, head shakes, the strength of this fish was impressive to say the least.
After an almost 10 minute fight what seemed like forever I had him in shallow water to slide up the bank, he was flailing around in a few cm of water so I jumped down the canal wall and noticed the lure had been thrown so I grabbed him and put him up on the wall, hopped up and got a few pics. On the release, shoes off and in the freezing cold water swimming him to make sure he was as healthy as he was before the fight but a little lethargic after.
Gear of choice: Tcurve revolution 1-3kg, 1000 symetre, 6lb nano fill, 8lb leader river2sea bubblepop 45.
Tomorrow ill try on the lox and stradic :)
Thanks for reading! Keegan.
