Bought a lcx 37c off a guy from ebay who informed me the unit has a internal gps antenna? I powered the unit up today and the gps wont pick up so my immediate thought is does this unit require the lgc3000 antenna with it? Or do I have to wire something else up like the nmea power cables or something? Im leaning towards thinking I need a lgc3000 antenna and if this is the case does anybody have one lying around?
Cheers

The specs show that it needs an external antenna.

Does it have an "i" on the model number?

no 'i' on the model number just numbers. After doing abit of research I believe I can hook it into my nmea network and use the gps signal off of my hds 7, However Wags has been kind enough to help me out with a antenna. Which is great as I wanted the unit to be a second unit that did not rely on the other unit for any signals etc

Don't know your famil levels with the LCX37-C but there's a couple of little tricks such as having to backsave the plotter data to an earlier version before transferring it to your computer (they never updated the software relating to that, only the drop-down menu choices); being careful not to accidentally move waypoints on your computer if you are using MapCreate 6 (otherwise they just 'float' on your head unit's screen with no data in behind them); screwing down the card flaps firmly to ensure no water ingress which fries the card reader; but don't over-tighten or the screws will disappear into the head unit; use a little piece of clear Cellotape over the card flaps etc. Once you're across that stuff, it's a pretty handy unit. Give me a buzz if you need some 'basics'. If the "gu" at the end of your monnker is short for 'guru' then apologies for my brashness. Regards

Thanks Daff. Any information is always appreciated. So a question.
I want to hook up the lcx unit into my nmea 2000 network. The lcx has a red network plug is it right If I just tee the red plug into the network and I also have connected the lcx and hds unit together via Ethernet for sharing of sonar. I had a little play lastnight but either unit wouldn't recognize eachother? My nmea 2000 network has its own power source So I assumed I didn't need to power it via the lcx unit as it has a power lead for nmea. Do I need to get rid of the power supply to my nmea 2000 network and power it from the lcx? Or should it work with my original power supply?
Cheers

I'm well downstream of the initial hookup and interface. However, you could try Lowrance tech support on +61 1300 NAVICO. Regards
