I went out on Monday night to fish the monster 2.7 metre tide at Pt Halloran. It was going to be a relatively late start due to the timing of the tide, but it was made much later by the M1 roadworks - four lanes condensing into one doesn't work.
The fishing was a bit patchy, but a feed of fish was produced. Even across the flats there was a fair bit of run, which is not a bad thing as it can fire the fish up a bit. The best bream was around 36 cm and the best whiting around 35 cm. There did appear to be a few whiting there and I was cursing that I didn't have any worms. There were very few undersized fish was a good thing. Most of the fish were caught on prawns. The flesh baits didn't really produce on this occasion.
