Met up with a mate at 5:30PM at Fishermans Island. Headed out to Mus Island first for a fish. Got nothing here really except for annoying puffer fish. My mate got a 3 foot or so Gummy shark. We then headed to the poo shoot to try our luck. Anchored up in a spot we thought would be good. Had a few nice plays. Then Richards 6lb rod goes off with some speed. After a 5 minute fight my mate thought the fish had bricked him.

After another 10 minutes of fighting he started to make some progress. After he got the fish near the boat a bloody rock came up tangled on the line. I thought he was fishing a rock up the whole time. He insisted he had a fish, so he pulled up the leader more to reveal a nice jewie still attached. Some luck, first jewie with the rock it tried to snag him on! The jew was 55cms.

We caught not much after this for the rest of the night. I landed 3 bream from 20 - 23 cms. The river had a lot of debris on the way home. My water pickup got busted off during the trip.

I went for a ride along the river this morning and noticed all the debris, must have been picked up by the extra high tides.

In the past I've found the bream fishing pretty good just inside the green beacon slightly upstream of the poo-chute. Best at night on high tide and run out, casting lightly weighted (00 sinker on the hook) yabbies or fresh green pealed prawns up onto the sunken wall. Prob too much run last night though.

Cheers

Thanks for the tip. The current indeed was very quick. I was anchored up quite happily for 2 hours. My line started going off, thought I had a nice fish. Next moment the green beacon passed me at some speed... Somehow my anchor lifted on an out-going tide.
