I saw this on another forum and thought it was cheap and simple ( much like me the wife says ) Great for fishing free spool with no weight felt by the fish,I want to try this with a livie for Spanish or Cobes.I use Shimano 6500 baitrunners usually but this has less resistance.

Dont know about doing it with Spanish Giffo. I reckon it would be all over before it began. They hit that fast! Maybe on the cobes??? I like to have mine in gear and on strike drag so they hook themselves. I tell you what if you take me to where the cobes and spanish are we will compare tactics.

I was going out this morning Macca, looking for Snapper, boat is on the back of the car,got up at 4am and bucketing down, and I'm back to work tomorrow. I was headed to Nine mile by myself as could not find a deckie.I suppose your right with Spanish, just thought if they were being finicky it may work !.The bloke that posted it on the other site uses it for small Billies in WA.

No need to free spool for spanish Giffo, you want the drag on to help set the hooks, probable scenario if trying to freespool spanish is your hooks and wire leader go down its gut and it bites you off on the mono/braid. Worst case is you get a huge mess of line somewhere between your spool and the top guide of the rod!

Hey Nicko

Brucestra on Polysite put it up and uses it for Billies,I have always used my baitrunners for Macs,This may be more the go for Snapper ?. Have you used that lure I sent you, any fish on it ?

When we were kids we just used rubber bands. Worked really well. Just put a loop of line under the band which was previously slipped over the foregrip and it did not take much to pull it out.

not yet Giffo, wind has been blowing it's ass off. had a fish with Daintreeboy but we couldn't buy a mack, crazy day and they weren't where they usually are.

need to find my stitched cloth wheel and buff hell out of it, give it an amazing shine, will work like a treat I think, will let you know when I troll it.

I personally wouldn't freespool macks..cheers mate.

Yes mate this system is used for billies, it allows them to eat your bait without feeling resistance therefore they don't throw the bait to early.
Make sure your drag is set correctly for line class.
