Hey all, I just got a few Madeye Blades. They have to 2 trailing snell hooks both trailing from the rear hook hole on the blade. The front hook hole is empty when these lures are sold. My question is for those who have used them
1) Have you left it empty and if so what is the hook up rate like
2) Have you put an extra set of Venon snell set of two hooks (this would most likely foul very easy) on this front hole, or,
3)Have you put a small treble on the front hook hole and if so does it increase hook up rate, decrease action or foul easily aswell.
They look awesome and no doubt will get smashed left right and centre. I get a brand new Kayak tomorrow so will be throwing a few of these around. I have set up the blades with each of the styles mentioned 1,2 and 3 so by tomorrow will be able to answer my own question, so just finding out what others have done and what succcess was had.
Thanks a heap,
Stone.

Singles snag a lot less than trebles......I would stay with singles, probaly stright onto a split ring in the lure hook loop, not trailing on leaders.

Well i got an hour in of fishing in my new Kayak (Awesome). I used the Lure with the two snell hooks trailing from the rear hole on about 1 inch leaders and i put a treble on the front hole. It did foul up a little, say one in every 6 casts so i just unfouled it. I caught two Bream and was hit about 4 times. The two fish that hooked up were on the rear two hooks only, nowhere near the treble. It was a good hour, landed two Bream, one 34cm the other 27cm and got hit 4 times. I landed one of the fish on my very first cast. Gonna head back to the same spot tomorrow and see what else is around. This area is a little Lock like lake and the only water in and out is through a pipe with about a 1 metre diameter. If my mate didnt show me spot you would not even think about fishing there, i have never seen anyone with a rod there. We have caught flatty around 60cm and got the Bream today. There is always baitfish crashing surface and have Trevally, Tarpon and Giant Herring up em. It is an amazing little lock and I wouldnt be surprised if there is a bul shark crusing round with some of the smashes i have seen and heard on the surface. Well back tomorrow this time for more than an hour.
Tight Lines, Good Times,
Stone.

Nice one Stone. Keep that spot to yourself as many such places get hammered by meat gatherers once they find them. Keeping fish from those places is not sustainable. Ben

Yeah mate will do. All my fish go back with a tag in them. It will be interesting to see if they ever make there way back out to the main creek or even the Broadwater. I will know if I ever re capture one of my fish too. Good times.

You could try a Gamakatsu Double 21 Hook, I use them on all my blades. They go straight through the hole with no ring.
