Shimano and Diawa reel sizes ?

Can someone tell me the equivalent reel sizes in the medium size spinning reels. I'm thinking about adding a medium size reel to the must have fishing gear.
I have a Diawa Caldia 2500 what's the Shimano equivalent?
Diawa 3000 = a Shimano ?
Daiwa 4000 = a Shimano ?

Different models are different sizes, go for a bit of window shopping at the local store and have a look and have a feel, thats the best way.

Roughly:
Diawa 3000 = Shimano 4000
Daiwa 4000 = Shimano 5000/6000 (in between)
