was not going to miss out on that 2.6m tide last night! so a mate and i hit up the pine on a search for some muddies. Dropped the pots off at woody pt for an hour or so while we were waiting for the tide to rise high enough for us to get up our creek.
We made our way up the creek after dark , dropped the pots , checking them within every hour. Heaps of crabs around and good quality, total was 10 keeper muddies 6 sandies , including one big 20cm buck with no claws, bugger just my luck. Still a good result for the effort. Bait was mullet pieces and chicken necks,
cheers , 8-)

Top effort Dean. Always envious when I see reports from you at the Pine - will have to try to get out more regularly.

Well done mate, I am jealous, having not been out for a while, but hopefully I'll still be able to get a few before the season is over.

Nice catch.
They have been going off down here too. Kat & I have been fishing with lengths of string with a mesh bag of chicken bits off the bank and catching them like yabbies.
Been getting 10 medium to big muddies each time we go out with probably 20-30 undersize or light crabs which were returned to the water.
Took us less than an hour to get our bag limit night before last.
Usually not as thick at this time of year but heaps there at the moment.
cheers.Steve.

Steve thats crazy. SOunds like a lot less effort than i usually put in.
Im guessing its a pretty steep mangrove lined bank full of holes? Do you use a scoop net to get them ?
