Had my first rodbuilding failure on a recent trip to Exmouth. The reel seat on one of my rods has come loose and now spins on the blank.

It is a fuji graphite seat, and I plan on drilling some small holes in the seat, and injecting in some epoxy. I can't cut grips and reinstall, as it has custom random circle grips, and the foregrip and rear grip are matching.

Is araldite an acceptable epoxy to use on this repair, or is there something else I can use that is thinner, and easier to squeeze in with a syringe?

Thanks,
Ben

Araldite in copious quantities will do the job nicely.

In the interest of using up the last of my threadmaster lite - would that be a viable option?

Benno,

Araldite should do the job. It's thin enough for you to squeeze the epoxy in through the holes and spin and keep filling.
If you want to know about other options, do a search on Glues on this forum and you'll find a number of suggestions for epoxies.

Cheers Barick,

I did have a bit of a search, and founds lots of good glue for reel seats, but I haven't tried injecting glue through a syringe before, and want to make sure I get it right first time.

Araldite it is!
