Hi everyone.

So I am going fishing for bass this weekend but my problem is the lures.
I have cast soft plastics fine in freshwater as they have a bit more weight to them due to the sinker/hook. But I just got some 4-7 grams hard body lures (jitterbug, buggi pop, skitterpop) and have no clue how do I cast these. I have tried casting for flathead with a light hardbody lure and even with light line and a light flicking rod I still couldn't get to cast far. I would use a baitcaster which I have but I'm not very use to them as I birdnest them allot so I would prefer to take my very light spinning reel which is good for whiting, bream, flathead and I would guess bass as I have caught a bass with the reel before on sp's.

To me 4 - 7 gram lures are on the heavy side and no problem to cast at all...though it does depend on the gear you are using.

For these weights either 1-3kg or 2-4kg rods with 1500 or 2000 size spin reels spooled with 4lb braid (I like Fins PRT) should do the trick nicely.

Good luck GB

As above, go light on with rods, reels and line, stick with the spin reel at the moment but practice with the baitcaster as they can be great for tight spots where you can cast backhand, underhand etc if the country is tight. good luck with it.
