About time the government , under influence from the Shooters and Fishers Party, made some decision based on science and not emotion.

Great to see some government decisions based on REAL science. Well done!

I'm heading down to Coffs for Easter. Just to clarify, does this mean that I can now fish from Arrawarra Headland and the beaches within Solitary Islands Marine Park?

Cheers

Congrats NSW anglers. This is exactly what Mark "Gunna" Peterson MP and the LNP promised to do for Qld anglers in when they got in power. Their excusses look pretty weak now.

NSW Fisheries and Marine Parks Officers will be instructed not to enforce restrictions that ban recreational line fishing in sanctuary zones on ocean beaches and headlands until the new threat and risk assessments have been undertaken.

This applies to recreational shore-based fishing with a rod or handline while on ocean beaches and headlands in sanctuary zones within mainland marine parks.

An assessment of beach and rock fishing activities in NSW marine parks will be undertaken to determine whether new arrangements and changes to the law are needed. This will include consultation with the Knowledge Panel, key stakeholder groups and the community.

Arrawarra Headland will still be a special purpose zone that has been there way before marine parks came into play so that would be a guess of no for fishing
